As Group Head Project Development, you hold final responsibility for the Project Development departments within the WDP Group (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Romania, France, and Germany, etc.). You report directly to the COO.

Here’s what you’ll be up to

  • You provide functional leadership to the local Project Development Teams in the various countries and maintain close contact with them. The focus will be on leading, coaching, and further developing the autonomous Project Development teams in collaboration with the local Heads of Project Development:
    • Foster a culture of entrepreneurship, collaboration, and results-oriented thinking.
    • Implement a shared working methodology across all countries, share best practices, and encourage cross-border knowledge exchange
       
  • You ensure the application of WDP’s high standards in quality, safety, sustainability, and customer focus:
    • Monitor project budgets and manage supplier relationships, contracts, and procurement.
    • Act as a bridge between clients and internal teams, translating client needs into technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners (architects, engineering firms, contractors) to find optimal solutions.
    • Ensure compliance and risk management are embedded in all processes.
       
  • You develop a group-wide strategy for Project Development aligned with WDP’s business plans and sustainability ambitions. Key challenges include:
    • Introducing and evaluating new construction techniques, tools, and technologies to improve efficiency, sustainability, and project outcomes.
    • Advancing WDP’s sustainability tracks (e.g. LCAs, climate risk assessments).
    • Integrating sustainable building solutions (e.g. energy efficiency, CO₂ reduction, circular materials) in line with WDP’s Climate Action Plan.
       
  • You stay ahead of innovation to support WDP’s leadership ambitions:
    • Identify industry trends, participate in networks and sector initiatives, and promote the adoption of new innovations, techniques, and regulations.
    • Stimulate innovation in energy management, solar energy projects, and smart metering.
       
  • You serve as the key contact for project development within the organization, liaising with the Executive Committee and departments such as Finance, Energy & Sustainability, Legal, Property Management, Business Development, and Country Managers. You also ensure feedback flows from the group to local teams for a coordinated approach.

With these skills and experience, success is guaranteed

  • You hold a master’s degree in civil or structural engineering and have at least five years of experience in a similar role.
  • You posses extensive knowledge of modern construction techniques, project management tools, and trends in the industry and sustainability.
  • You are able to translate your innovative, visionary, and strategic approach into practical and efficient daily operations. You can manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • You are an excellent team player and people manager with strong communication skills in Dutch, English, and French.
  • You are a proactive problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset and a can-do attitude.
  • You thrive in a dynamic and fast-growing company.
