No two days the same: Tom De Kestelier’s fifteen years of variety at WDP
Tom De Kestelier has worked at WDP for more than 15 years, and for just as long, he’s worked on renovating WDP’s buildings. But don’t be fooled: no two days in Tom’s career look alike, and that variety is exactly what he’s always valued about his job. He looks back on the past years, and ahead too.
When I joined WDP 15 years ago
When I started at WDP, my focus was mainly on renovating some of our older buildings. And that’s exactly what made the work interesting straight away: variety. No two days are the same. You end up in a different situation every time, with different needs and different solutions. That variety is still, to this day, one of the best things about the job.

What WDP means for me today
Today my work mostly revolves around maintaining our buildings in Belgium, and making sure tenants get helped quickly, with small issues and sometimes bigger ones too. In my case that’s mostly painting and plumbing work. It’s satisfying to know that practical solutions have an immediate impact: you simply make things easier, more comfortable and faster to sort out for tenants.
How I see WDP in the future
Looking ahead, I mostly hope WDP keeps growing and keeps innovating in sustainable buildings. That we keep investing in quality and future-focused solutions, so we’re not only strong today, but tomorrow too.
The project I’ll never forget
A project that has really stayed with me is Templemars in France. There too we tackled a renovation, preparing the building for a new purpose: smaller spaces in an open-plan office. What made it extra special: to keep the work moving, I stayed overnight at a hotel on site. That way we didn’t have to drive back and forth every day and could act faster on the spot. It’s the kind of project you look back on with pride afterwards, because you can feel how much effort and teamwork went into it.
