Mediq partners with WDP for a Sale & Lease back transaction

As a leading supplier of health products for patients, care facilities and care professionals, Mediq is continuously seeking out innovative ways of making their clients’ lives healthier, easier and better.

Mediq was searching for the most ideal location to merge their five existing distribution centres into one intelligent hub, dubbed: Fulfilment Centre’. Through the central logistical hub – equipped with smart technology and sustainability features – they looked forward to increased efficiency.

To achieve that goal, the health product supplier approached multiple partners; assessing which one would best deliver on their unique logistical expectations. In the end, WDP came out on top as the preferred partner for this challenging and ambitious project.

The development in Bleiswijk ticked all of Mediq’s boxes, allowing them to create an efficient, sustainable and profitable Fulfilment Centre that was fully customized to meet their needs.

The end product

A ground-breaking automation system was integrated into the warehouse, including a shuttle system that allows for a fully automated order picking process; making Mediq’s entire logistics process more efficient and responsive to supply chain demands. In addition to that, the distribution centre is equipped with:

  • Storage for sterile products;
  • An industrial pharmacy with cooling and secured access;
  • Rooms for cleaning and configuring medical equipment; and
  • Liquidtight, antistatic and acid resistant flooring throughout.
