Delhaize Valley opened in Kobbegem at the beginning of October 2020. The completion of this prestigious project means that many support services of the Delhaize supermarket chain are now gathered under one roof. According to the company, this paves the way to even greater efficiency and will further strengthen the service for its customers.

The site in Kobbegem is not unknown territory for Delhaize. After all, the logistics activities have been carried out from this strategic location near Asse for many years. Now, several support services that previously operated from Anderlecht and Ossegem will join the rest here. A recent press release issued by Delhaize stated that,

By bringing all the support services under one roof, we can work together more efficiently and creatively. And that’s Delhaize Valley’s greatest ambition.”

Unique opportunity

Until the end of 2019, the various editorial offices of De Persgroep were located on the site where our services are now taking up residence. Their move to the brand-new DPG buildings at Antwerp-Central Station created a unique opportunity for Delhaize.

With the relocation plans of De Persgroep, we at WDP had the opportunity to buy the vacant building,”

says WDP Project Manager Koen Baele.

Delhaize’s interest was quite logical, since bringing the different services together would give them a huge advantage.”

About a year later, Delhaize moved into the building, which had undergone a thorough renovation and facelift for extra comfort and, above all, more sustainability.

The building was almost completely gutted in order to make the ecological footprint as small as possible,”

explains Koen.

A tremendous amount of effort was put into this.”
