WDP delivers 22,760 sqm sustainable logistics centre for Scania Logistics Netherlands in Zwolle
WDP has officially delivered a new logistics centre for Scania Logistics Netherlands at the Hessenpoort business park in Zwolle on March 2, 2026. With this sustainable distribution centre of over 22,760 sqm, we are further strengthening logistics capacity in a strategically important European region.
The official handover took place in the presence of all project partners. During a guided tour of the building, attention was given to the development journey and to the next phase: the further fit-out and phased operational start-up of the site.
Logistics capacity ready for international growth
This development responds to increasing international goods flows within Scania’s European network. The expansion in Zwolle supports the further optimisation of import flows and reinforces the site’s logistics coordination role within the global network.
The project demonstrates how logistics real estate goes beyond four walls and a roof. By investing in scalability, efficiency and sustainability, we create room for structural growth and future-proof supply chains.
Designed with sustainability and long-term vision
The building was developed according to high sustainability standards and has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification. It is fully gas-free and designed with maximum energy efficiency as a starting point.
Particular attention was paid to the spatial integration within its surroundings. Green areas and landscape elements ensure a natural connection with the environment and contribute to biodiversity.
Sustainability also translates into creating a healthy and attractive working environment, both indoors and outdoors. Daylight, comfort and appealing outdoor spaces contribute to employee wellbeing.
The distribution centre is prepared for further electrification of transport flows, including charging infrastructure. On the operational side, innovation is embedded through the implementation of an automated shuttle racking system that enables efficient and space-saving pallet storage and handling.
Phased operational start in 2026
Following the official delivery, the next phase now begins: the installation and implementation of operational processes. The site will become operational in phases during the course of 2026.
With this project, WDP confirms its role as a long-term partner in sustainable logistics solutions, where scale, technology, energy efficiency and attention to people and environment come together to future-proof international supply chains.
We are proud to deliver this logistics centre for Scania Logistics Netherlands. This project shows what is possible when client, developer and contractor collaborate closely from day one. The result is a future-proof and sustainable logistics building that supports Scania’s international growth.
Our role within the global Scania network is evolving and expanding. With the production plant in China and increasing international import flows, our logistics coordination function is becoming ever more important. The new centre in Hessenpoort enables us to further strengthen efficient and sustainable flows. This is not merely an expansion in square metres, but an investment in the future of our organisation and in a more sustainable logistics system.
