WDP develops new construction project for Scania Logistics at Hessenpoort, Zwolle
Discover how a new sustainable logistics center in Zwolle contributes to efficiency and environmental friendliness, featuring advanced facilities and a strategic location.
Something extraordinary is happening at Hessenpoort in Zwolle. This is where WDP is beginning the construction of a state-of-the-art logistics center for Scania Logistics. This is not just another project; it is a symbol of innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. On May 5th, this milestone was celebrated in style during a festive start-to-build event. You can feel the energy and excitement of the day in the aftermovie below – a moment that truly captures how we are building the future together.
A strategic choice for growth and innovation
The decision to build in Zwolle is no coincidence. Hessenpoort is a strategically located logistics hub with excellent connections to national and international corridors. For Scania, this location offers an optimal base to further streamline their supply chain. For WDP, it’s another opportunity to leverage its expertise in delivering future-proof solutions: a tailor-made warehouse designed to perfectly meet Scania’s needs.
With a gross floor area of 21,500 m², 16 loading docks, 4 ground-level doors, 50 truck parking spaces, and 200 car parking spaces – 44 of which are equipped with EV charging points – this facility is fully equipped for efficiency and sustainability. The warehouse will be delivered gas-free and meets the highest sustainability standards, including BREEAM Excellent and GPR 8.0 certifications. This project is a textbook example of how WDP is committed to smart and sustainable logistics solutions.
A partnership built on trust
The collaboration between Scania and WDP is not new, but this development highlights the strength of this long-standing relationship. Scania has once again chosen WDP, and that’s no coincidence. WDP is known for its dedication, customization, and forward-thinking approach. These are not just words; they are values brought to life in every project. Together with Scania, we are not just building a facility but a vision: a smart work environment that aligns seamlessly with the client’s growth ambitions.
This approach is not just about the short term. Building a warehouse like this goes beyond technical specifications. It requires a deep understanding of the client, the industry, and future challenges. With an average construction period of 12 – 15 months from contract signing, every detail is meticulously tailored to deliver the best possible outcome.
A sustainable future starts here
At WDP, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. This new warehouse is a perfect example of that commitment. By building gas-free and adhering to strict sustainability standards, this project contributes to a greener logistics sector. But sustainability goes beyond the building itself. It’s also about creating smart solutions that save energy, optimize processes, and contribute to a better world for future generations.
The Hessenpoort location also offers economies of scale and efficient connections. This makes it not only a strategic choice for Scania but also an example of how WDP designs its projects to be smart and efficient. It’s a place where innovation and sustainability meet.
A festive beginning
The start-to-build event on May 5th was a festive occasion to celebrate this collaboration. Clients, partners, and employees came together to mark the first steps of this extraordinary project. The event was not only a moment to look forward to the delivery in the first quarter of 2026 but also a chance to reflect on the collective efforts that make this possible. The aftermovie captures the energy and enthusiasm of the day – a glimpse of what’s to come.
Building the future together
This project marks a new chapter in the collaboration between Scania and WDP. It underscores our shared vision of innovation, sustainability, and growth. Together, we are not just building a warehouse but a future where logistics is smarter, greener, and more efficient. Or as we at WDP like to say: “Let’s build something smart.”
With this project, we are setting a new standard for logistics solutions. It’s a shining example of how WDP works hand-in-hand with its clients to create intelligent and future-proof solutions. We look forward to the delivery in 2026 and to the many successes Scania will achieve in this new facility.
