KiesZon installs one millionth solar panel at WDP in Bleiswijk
Bleiswijk, June 13, 2022 – Since its foundation in 2009, KiesZonhas installed one million solar panels. In Bleiswijk, on the roof of logistics real estate developer WDP, this special milestone was reached at the beginning of June of this year. The total of 1,000,000 panels installed by KiesZonfor logistics real estate users, developers and investors, private individuals and construction companies, among others, are expected to generate more than 290 million kilowatt hours annually. That is, by comparison, enough electricity to supply 100,000 average Dutch households with electricity every year.
Erik Snijders, general director of KiesZon, was present in Bleiswijk to celebrate the milestone together with WDP. Erik Snijders:
“In the first place, this is of course a great milestone for KiesZon, to install 1 million panels in 12 years, but we do it together with our customers. We thank them for that trust and we promise to continue to deliver the same quality for the next million panels. Incidentally, these panels will increasingly be part of integrated solutions, in order to be able to continue to use the sun as a source of sustainable energy in the future, whether on a large or small roof.”
As a client, WDP, one of KiesZon’s main partners, is already responsible for more than 50,000 panels of those 1 million solar panels. So a large share. Mariëtta van Wijk, Director of Business & Legal WDP, explains:
“WDP is proud of the installation by KiesZonof the millionth panel on the roof of our distribution center. A confirmation of our many years of sustainable partnership.”
KiesZonis part of the Greenchoice group. Under the banner of Greenchoice, KiesZonannually installs thousands of private solar power systems. This branch of the KiesZonorganization also contributed significantly to achieving the impressive number of one million solar panels.
The next step
With the installation of one million panels, KiesZonand partners such as WDP have over the past 10 years laid the foundation for the next step in the energy transition: a 100 percent green energy supply. The demand for sustainably generated electricity continues to increase. But more solar and wind energy also presents new challenges, with congestion as the biggest obstacle. Technological innovations, such as the use of smart storage techniques, demand side management and the electrification of mobility, offer themselves as a solution. KiesZonhas set itself the goal of integrating these and other innovations into smart energy systems, based on the solar roof. In this way, the electrical infrastructure of the future will be created and the energy landscape will be prepared for future generations.
